Cemeteries

Williams has two cemeteries, at Williams and Marling. The current Williams Cemetery is located some 2kms south east of the town and was commissioned in 1914.

The Marling Cemetery, formerly a private cemetery provided by the Cowcher family, is located 20kms west of Williams on the Pinjarra-Williams Road.

Cemetery records for both current cemeteries and the Williams Pioneer Cemetery can be viewed at the Council Office.

The following fees and charges are associated with the Williams and Marling Cemeteries:

1. On application for an order for burial the following fees shall be paid in advance:
    a) For internment in a grave 1.8 metres deep
    b) For ‘Grant of Right of Burial’ land 2.4 x 1.2m
    c) Transfer of ‘grants of Exclusive Rights of Burial’
2. Reopening of ordinary grave
                  (Additional charges if applicable as provided in clause 36 Local Law)
3. Permit to erect a headstone / monument or kerbing
4. Funeral Directors License
5. Single Funeral Permit
6. Fee for Late Arrival
7. Niche Wall
    a) Single Compartment                    (Tablet and inscription at cost)
    b) Double Compartment                  (Tablet and inscription at cost)
8. Reservation of Site

Plot Reservations

For plot reservation please click here to download Shire of Williams Cemetery Plot Reservation form. The form should be returned to the Council Office with the fee of $15. Maps of the cemeteries are also available for viewing at the Council Office.

Niche Wall

For further information regarding placement of ashes in the Niche Wall please contact the Council Office. Plaques are to be privately arranged prior to placement of ashes in the wall.
