Australia Day / Citizen of the Year Breakfast

The estimated turnout of 100 persons was treated to a breakfast comprising sausages, bacon and egg with orange juice, tea or coffee. Councillors Graham Prowse, David Earnshaw, Moya Carne and Gilbert Medlen were officiating at the cooking trailer. Following completion of the breakfast, Councillor Graham Prowse (standing in for President John Cowcher and Lions President Hedley Fowler who were on holidays) announced Lorraine Kennedy the winner of the 2008 Lions Citizen of the Year and the Premiers Active Citizen Awards. Lorraine, who has been involved with the promotion of music teaching, religious teaching and other community activities in Williams, was present with her family to receive the award. At the conclusion Lorraine, with some help, led the crowd in renditions of "Click go the shears", "Waltzing Matilda", "We are Australian" and "Advance Australia Fair"
