Over the years there have been many questions

asked regarding the large tree near the entrance to the Williams Lions Park. Enquiries reveal that the tree is a Southern Mahogany (Eucalyptus Botryoides). The species grow to a height of 40m and is found in Central Queensland and New South Wales. It remains a mystery how such a tree came to be there and whether it was planted or grew from a wandering seed. Because of its imposing presence it is a much admired part of the park.
