EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST 

The Shire of Williams is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced external independent persons for the following roles on the Shire’s Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC):

  • Presiding Member; and a
  • Deputy of the Presiding Member.

Invitations are invited from people with expertise in risk and financial audit management to express their interest in serving in these roles. This is a unique opportunity to support the Shire and the local community by actively contributing to governance excellence.

The purpose of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC) is to advise the Council in relation to internal and external audit, compliance, risk management, and improvement matters as well as the Shire of Williams financial statements.

Up to two (2) external members may be appointed to the ARIC. Membership is for a period of two (2) years to align with the local government ordinary election cycle, with members eligible for reappointment. Meetings are held two to three times per year and may be in person or by TEAMS. Regulations enable external members to be paid meeting fees for attending meetings, including reimbursement of certain expenses in accordance with legislative requirements.

 Expression of Interests must include a recent CV and a cover letter detailing:

  1. Background, experience and qualifications relevant to the Terms of Reference, including as Presiding Member and/or Deputy Presiding Member of other audit, risk and improvement committees.
  2. Previous experience or involvement in local government, community organisations or committees relevant to the Terms of Reference, including as Presiding Member and/or Deputy Presiding Member.
  3. Motivation for joining the committee.
  4. Ability to commit to meeting attendance.

Expressions of Interest close at 4pm, Monday 30 March 2026 and are to be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, lodged via email to peter.stubbs@williams.wa.gov.au.  Submissions can also be sent to PO Box 96, Williams WA 6391 or be hand delivered to the Shire Administration Office, 9 Brooking Street, Williams WA.
